For safety reasons, you can still hear your surrounding. For the Bad. The sound at lowest level can be heard by my friends that are 5 feet away from me. So it can't really be used discreetly. The louder you turn it up, the more distorted the sound can get, but I never need it that loud. I'm probably spoiled regarding audio quality as i typically use Bose Tempo shades for listening to music while I ride. I was curious about these. They look great, are rubberized, clear optics but the sound -- couldn't be worse if they had tried. tinny and scratchy. complex sounds become garbled like a tangle of barb wire.
