What if they used their powers for personal gain? Who can hold them accountable? I've been loving it. I'd give it five stars but the story suddenly starts to drag. Each book the story is progressing at a nice natural place; new clues; new conflicts to help our the characters grow and change. But when Hughie decides to leave to "figure things out" the pace really slowed. It's probably mostly tied to Hughie's character becoming increasing whimpy; uncertain of things. I thought his character had come a long way to suddenly regress. But that's the only hang-up on the book/story. And he obviously eventually gets his stuff together. Otherwise the mounting tension is page turning. A sub-plot to utilize a group of superheroes, who actually want to do good, was a great change-of-pace. More and more you start to realize the heart of this story is really a love story.
