The 12 year old never tries to come up front. I usually seat-belt the 1 year old but want her to learn to stay in the back on her own, since she often steps on the seat belt latch and gets loose. I had a hard time finding a piece of metal that I could get the hook on, but finally did. Those bottom hooks are a pain. The tops hooked easily to the headrest bars. Excellent tension, no sagging. Hooks are plastic, not sure how long they will last but they seem quite sturdy.Extra dog seatbelt is a great bonus, those alone cost about ten bucks. Also nice to have pouch built into the barrier. I didn’t notice that feature when I ordered this, and it’s a handy spot to store the dog seatbelt & harness when not in use.
