The Makita 18V X2 (36V) LXT Brushless 6-1/2” plunge Circular saw kit (XPS01PTJ) delivers precise and more accurate cutting when combined with an optional guide rail system (sold separately). the saw and rail system work together to produce accurate cuts with minimal tear-out. The saw combines a powerful Makita-built Brushless motor powered by two 18V LXT batteries with automatic speed Change technology, which adjusts cutting speed and torque during the cut for optimum performance. The saw has a variable speed control dial (2, 500 – 6, 300 RPM), with soft start and an Electric brake for added convenience. It has a large 2-3/16” cutting capacity at 90 degrees, with a bevel capability of -1° to 48° and positive stops at 22.5° and 45°. when used with a rail system (sold separately) the plunge Circular saw is a more portable option to a Table saw for select applications, and is ideal for use on the job site or in a workshop. Cut down 6 pcs 3/4” plywood with a range of 12- 23 cuts per sheet and still had over 50% battery. - Track system works great and a game changer for cutting plywood - 45 degree cuts down 8’ worked well with saw and track. Cut roughly 16 pcs 8’ long - Saw and track work well together and allow for quick accurate work. - Track connection is easy and lines up well. I used a 4’ level ( or any straight edge) to ensure 2 sections align. Very simple, accurate, and quick - Battery - key note Makita doesn’t gouge you on replacement batteries (if needed). Other brands significantly overcharge. This is a key item to note as we buy these tools for a lifetime. Overall an excellent product and the battery system work with all Makita tools.

I have a bunch of other Makita tools and I'm very happy with them - so when it came to a track saw that definitely influenced my choice here. About the saw itself...it's magic. When I make cuts with it they look so straight you'd think a robot did it. I had a big project to cut over 100 sheets of plywood and so I decided I'd take the plunge. This saw is just so cool - it takes up much less space than a really nice table saw but with clever work holding you can get amazing results with it. Would I like a really nice table saw with a huge cast iron table? Yes I would. Would I use it enough to warrant the space and money that it would require, no I wouldn't. That's where the track saw comes in. She's a beauty, and using her makes my work look like I have more skill than I actually do. I'm sure the other track saws are awesome, maybe better in this way or that. But if you have Makita and you are trying to decide between this or a Festool, don't bother. I accidentally decided to try and cut through a metal saw horse last week and I found out the hard way that these saws don't take a 5/8 arbor circular saw blade (no brand of track saw does from what I can tell). So if you are on a job and you have a time constraint, get a spare blade. If you do end up getting this saw and you want to cut big sheets of stuff, build yourself a table to hold your work piece and also consider building something to hold the pice that will want to fall off after the cut. You don't want to have a beautiful cut right to the end and have the weight of the cut piece create a tear out. But yeah, she's a gem of a saw :-)

**Q: Does this come with the 2 makita promotions? promotion 1.) 2x extra batteries for a total of 4 and promotion 2.) a free 55" track.**
A: I just purchased the Makita track saw kit from "Amazon Prime" and it was delivered today. The extra batteries from the Makita promotion were Not Included. I thought the item was being supplied by Amazon, but it actually was supplied by Find it at the Bay. I've contacted Find it at the Bay to ask why the Makita promotion (valid through July 31st, 2019 according to Makita) was not included... no answer yet. Today in an online chat with Amazon, I was told that this seller is perhaps "not participating" in the Makita promotion that Home Depot, Acme Tools and every other seller seems to be participating in. If I can't resolve this issue, I will be returning the whole package and buying it somewhere that is participating with the Makita Factory promotion for the 2 free 18v batteries.

I should have bought this years ago. Make cutting 4x8 sheets down fast and accurate. 10 out of 10 The battery life is outstanding. The quality is top notch. The weight of the saw is not bad at all. I also bought 2 55” tracks. This setup makes accurate cuts a walk in the park. I looked at a lot of track saws I feel the value for money is spot on.
