I thought the chipped paint was dust, but nope I tried cleaning it and it was chipped paint. So I requested an exchange and got a new kettle in the next couple of days, and it was perfect. The box was taped and packaged differently than the first one, so I suspect that first one was a return of a used kettle. I really like the aesthetic of this kettle, especially for the price! The lid is a little hard to remove because it's right under the handle, but not too cumbersome. It's still easy enough to do everyday, I just try to be careful because I don't want to accidentally scratch anything because I like how it looks so much lol.
