My previous cheap heater allowed the temperature to drop by 1 degree before switching on and then raising the temperature 1 degree above my setting before switching itself off. The electronic system in the Fluval has much finer parameters and accuracy, seems to come on at 0.1⁰ below and switch off again at exactly the temperature I've set it to. It's held a set temperature of 25.5⁰ for 10 days solid without more than a very occasional 0.1⁰ downward fluctuation shown on either my digital internal probe or standard thermometer. The fish definitely appear happier and healthier without the large temperature swings. The permanently illuminated power & heating light ring gives peace of mind that it's working at a glance. I have a second tank and will definitely replace that heater with a Fluval when the original that came with it starts to misbehave. Really appreciate the light being blue or red, but always on, as you know if it's broken or somehow lost power at a glance. The heating keeps it easily within 0.5C of the target with no issues in our 240L tank. It installed wimply and the suction cups have been reliable so far.
