On the very good days he seemed much more alert and quicker in his movements. The patient himself noticed that his voice sounded 'normal' (he has been speaking with a low, mumbly voice for two years +). The shakes are still there. So are the delusions, except that on one good day the patient started talking about them as though they were 'objects', like dreams, rather than being taken over by them. No new or negative symptoms. Overall, quite encouraging. Today we are upping the dose from 2 capsules to 3. Will report in a few weeks on how this went. 29 May The patient has gone down with an infection and the mushroom extract has been stopped until he is better. It took us a while to realise that a worsening of physical symptoms and dementia were not due to a deterioration in his Parkinsons condition or to the mushrooms but to additional illness.
