I first met this book when doing postgraduate studies in wear.It is a classic.Well written, never using complex derivations where limit analysis will do the job and always relevant to the everyday situations of friction, wear and lubrication, this book is a must-read for anyone working in this area.With this book, Rabinowicz not only explained his subject well.He has also made the subject of wear really interesting.And that's what a good text is all about.

As a student in materials science, this is one of best books I have ever read in materials science.  The text is kept to a minimum and is easy to read.  The figures are large and easy to understand, and the equations are all well explained.  Just about every topic in friction and wear is given at least a cursory glance along with listings of more focused literature.  This book should be read by all who deal with friction and wear as part of their work or education.
