My new PC had no SPDIF Optical out. Plugged this into a USB port and I now have crystal clean 24 Bit audio to listen to my music on the BIG speakers and my AV Amplifier. It's a more cost effective option than installing a PCI card in the computer. One minor issue: The first one I ordered had a short in the USB cable. The sound would stop under the weight of the Optical cable plugged into it. Hanging there caused a short. Must be manufacturing issue. Given the reasonable price, I just bought a second one and it works fine. Now I have two. One as a spare I guess. I can get the bad one to work if I hold up the cable in a manner to take the weight off the USB connecter. Strange issue, but I didn't bother to send it back. The cost of shipping wouldn't be worth it.
