When I received the package this morning, I decided to put one together right away. I had a laugh when the instructions said not to follow them because I was receiving an updated version of this scratcher. However, they also said just to look at the picture of the finished product, which is what I did. It is easy to put together once you figure it out, but be sure to look at the picture. And actually, some of the instructions were helpful. It’s basically three pieces of the cardboard held together by the frame. Tip: once you align the wood onto the cardboard, push the screw in a little, and then use the tool provided to tighten. Alignment is important for a balanced scratcher. I have four cats and I am waiting to see who will be the first to check it out and use it. UPDATE: Two months later and I can say without reservation that the cats LOVE it. They all scratch on it. As soon as it gets a little more raggedy, I will turn over the pieces. No reason not to. Should work fine. Some people don’t like the fact that some of the cardboard goes on the floor but that doesn’t bother me.
