The function is sound though I did find the rotating "lock" knob a little fiddly. On/Off is crisp in function. The instructions for timing of button presses for functions don't seem to align with the way the torch works. Not a big detail but something to be aware of. The illumination is bright and focussed to a quite narrow beam with no adjustable beam width. This reminds me of the watchman's torches I used to use - just not as long and heavy for usage as a club. I have not had opportunity to test the torch submersed and at depth, so cannot speak to the advertised water proof standards.
