You may have to mess with the back a little bit to go over the corners. Read the instructions. It's a seat cover, nothing fancy, just glad it came in colors that match the toilet instead of standing out like a sore thumb. As much as I hate to admit it, I was terribly wrong and I've since apologized for calling him an old lady. I love them. They really do make a difference in the colder months (especially in you live in a place that gets really cold like it does here in Wisconsin). We have a total of 4 of these, now -- 2 black ones for our downstairs bathroom and 2 brown ones for our upstairs bathroom -- so that even when one is being washed there's always one on our toilet seat. Also worth noting is that while the downstairs toilet has a round seat the upstairs is an elongated oval seat and both of them fit fine.
