We have been shopping for a new mattress for several years. Mattress shopping is the worst! Most any mattress feels good for 10 minutes in the store. We have had a wonderful innerspring mattress but it was way past its prime and in desperate need of replacing, but with what?Several years ago we stayed in a fabulous bed and breakfast with our family and it was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept on. We checked the tag at the end of vacation and noted that it was a Tempur-pedic Grand. We looked into those and found they cost $10,000! Nope! We had had a different Tempur-pedic in a vacation home that cost $3500 about 10 years ago which my husband liked but I hated! I would sink into it and felt like I was digging out of a hole to turn over in the night.Last summer, of 2019, we stayed at an Airbnb and again found the mattress to be very, very comfortable. I contacted the owner after our trip about what brand it was, and it was this one! It was a king, like ours, and he had purchased it from walmart.com for $400. Since it was a brand new mattress I was still chicken to bite the bullet, but told our kids about it who quickly bought one shortly after that. (I am always suspicious of reviews of brand new mattresses. Tell me how it feels after some time, please!). Our son and his wife had been sleeping on theirs for a year now and they are not small people, so we slept on theirs overnight a few weeks ago and it was just as comfortable as the one at the Airbnb!That was it! It’s no longer available through Walmart but I thankfully found it here on Amazon, though It cost a bit more here. Compared to the $5000 we were about to lay down on another mattress, we figured we could replace this every few years if we had to for the same cost.We are thrilled! It is supportive with just enough softness to relieve pressure points. We are in our mid 60s, and for you young whippersnappers let me say that we are pretty fit and active, but have the same back, joint issues most people of our age have and you will have someday (or be dead 😊)! We are sleeping better already.Another concern of mine was that a 12” mattress would look squatty compared to our old one, but fully inflated this is 13” thick and looks perfect on our bed.And another thing! No smell whatsoever! We had brought our air purifier into our room and fully anticipated using it for several days before sleeping on it, but that was not necessary. Not sure what that’s all about.I sure hope this helps some of you out there who are struggling with this hard decision. Within 24 hours it was fully expanded. There was no smell. This mattress is firm enough to support but also feels like it cups you wherever you lay.
