Does it make much of a difference?** A: Depends on the space your heating. I have a long narrow room were the oscillating isn't needed and a large L shaped room were the oscillating helps move the warm air around. Depends on your situation and room size. Plus if your picky about were you want to place the unit.You can oscillate the fins to blow heat in the area you'd like and stop the osc at that angle. I feel it's not necessary but it's a nice function to have given my situation. **Q: can you run the humidifier without the heat** A: Hello Beatrice. You can run the humidifier without using the heat. With the MODE button on the remote control set the heater to FAN setting, then using the HUMIDIFIER button on the remote turn the humidifier on. You will be good to go. **Q: after reading the reviews im still not sure what type of bottle fits the humidifiere** A: The heater comes with 2 caps that fit standard 11 oz water bottles. Water bottles come in 2 types of cap threads so you are covered in both cases **Q: Can it be used outdoors for a roofdeck?** A: I would not recommend this product. The problem was with the humidifier. The 2L plastic they suggest using, collapse on themselves and then leak all over. Thinking I had a defective unit I returned that one for a new one. Same problem. Even though you wouldn't mind the water on your roof, the water would empty out and you would have no more mist. I bought this unit from Amazon and think it's great. The only drawback is the smaller water vessel. But that no big deal. My model is: Lasko 6462 and was purchased from Amazon.
