Our cat Max was always opening the cabinet doors under the kitchen and bathroom sinks to snoop around and take naps. So we had to remove toxic items, garbage bags and anything plastic (he loves to eat them and has had digestive problems which made him very sick for a week and a half. I had to take him to the vet twice to find out that the plastic bags etc. was the problem. Long story short it ended up costing over $900). Then we started getting ants under the sinks and of course he would have them on him and the little things would bite him which drove him crazy so he would meow all the time. Then we started to get bit by them too from holding him. So we started to set things in front of the cabinet doors to block him from going under the sinks. Then one day I happened to see the Magnetic Cabinet Locks on Amazon and thought WOW!, there is the answer to keeping from going under the sinks! These are So Easy to install and take just a matter of minutes and you don't need any tools at all! Just follow the simple instructions and a web link video that is sent to you shows how to install them too. Make sure after you install them to wait a day or so to let the adhesive set. I have found that to be so true because I installed a couple of adhesive hooks I use to hang my head phones and didn't wait to let adhesive set, now they are falling down a lot. I read some reviews saying that the adhesive for the Magnetic Cabinet Locks does not hold up. Well I bet when installed the reviewers did not wait a day or so before using them. I have had these on our cabinets for almost a week and have tugged on the cabinet doors many times now. The adhesive holds Great and now Max the cat is mad because he can't go under the sinks (Ha,Ha)! My husband whined a little about the installation, but I'm sure they were way easier than ones that required tools! I love that I don't have to have bulky or ugly locks on our cabinets that are visually unappealing short term and can cause damage that lasts forever. I was 50% sure our very strong, persistent and stubborn 1 year old would just rip these adhesive locks open, but it's been almost 2 months and they're all still going strong. Even the ones on the kitchen cabinets I ALWAYS forget are there and yank on myself are still just as strong as the day they were installed. Really impressive! I also love that you can disable the lock with a quick flip of the toggle inside the door lock. I unlock them all when our house cleaner comes so she can get to all the chemicals with the hassle of unlocking everything, but easily flip them back when she's done. I've installed 3 of the 4 locks it is packaged with. So far, I do not have any complaints or criticism of this product. It is easy to install, is very reasonably priced, and has been, so far effective at keeping our 11 month old from opening the cabinets. The 3M sticker on the back appears to be sufficient. During installation, I had to try several times to find the ideal spot so the locking mechanism would hinge. I used a butter knife to help separate the 3M sticker from the wood that it was briefly attached to. Even after placing and displacing the 3M sticker several times, it maintained its adhesive component and had remained effective. Would I buy this product again?
