I just swallow the capsule. I do not open it and put it on my tongue or anything like that. I am not going to say that it makes me not want sugar ever, or that it makes sugar taste gross to me. What is has done is dull my cravings quite a bit. They are not nearly as bad as they were before I started taking this. Also, I have noticed that I do not get as hungry between meals. This did not happen instantly.
