It does not have a shield that I am aware of. What I did was to purchase an inexpensive 10 gallon aquarium. If you lay the aquarium on one of the long sides with the opening facing you, you can place the grinder in the aquarium and have glass protection on the top, sides and back. This works great for me and is easy to clean with a hose. Thank you.** A: I've only had my grinder for two years and not had to replace the bit yet. I looked at Lowes though and I am pretty sure they had them.
