The original Spektrum motor worked fine, but I wanted to run a 17t pinion in summer temps without worry. I transferred the stock heatsink and fan to this, and it’s run every bit as cool, if not cooler, as the stock motor did on a 15t pinion. The power delivery is honestly smoother since it has more torque. The 5mm D shaft is almost a direct fit for Arrma pinions, but the flat side has to be extended 3/8” or so in order to accept the full length of the pinion including the grub screw. A file would work, but I used a Dremel with a metal cutter that made short work of it (less than 60 seconds). Alternatively, you could just use a standard round shafted pinion. Great motor for the price.
