This is the main part of the prd. the tube is just to direct the overflow when it does break **Q: How do you know if your present one is faulty? My shower is having trouble staying hot & sometimes not getting hot.** A: The PRD is activated by releasing water through its valve when there is a build up of water pressure. If no water is coming out of the PRD then the water pressure should be okay.
