It arrived promptly, well packaged and unblemished. The board itself is lighter than our current wooden cutting board and easy to maneuver. My wife and son commented that it looks like something you'd see in a sushi restaurant, and I agree that it is attractive. The light citrus smell of the wood also appeals to me.It feels softer when the knife hits the board when cutting fruit or vegetables than on our previous wooden or synthetic boards. It washes off easily and has retained its appearance with little if any apparent marring. I'm fine with having to replace this board in time, but I think it will last awhile with reasonable care. The wood finish is smooth and the cuts are even, lending a feeling and appearance of quality workmanship. It has delightful aroma - I noticed that some people complain about the scent, but it's supposed to smell like this. As a Japanese person, I am very familiar with the scent of hinoki. It's quite strong fragrance. In Japan, it's difficult to find someone who doesn't appreciate this smell, but it could be unfamiliar to other people. What I like about this board is its lightweight nature, making it so much easier to handle and clean. I own a Boos cutting board which is great for chopping, but it's just too heavy for everyday use. I was in search for something lighter and this has been so far perfect. I hope it remains duarable without warping or chipping.
