It was thinner than I expected but because it has a pump dispenser it came out just fine. Lathered nicely and there was a slight tingle, kind of reminded me of a dandruff shampoo I used once or twice. I was directed to lather & then re-lather. This is something I have always done. The second lathering was much more intense and I felt like it cleaned my hair well. And it rinsed out nicely too. I usually towel dry my hair and then place in turban type wrap until almost dry. Since I wanted to test this shampoo thoroughly I did not use a conditioner. My hair did not tangle and when it was dry it was so Soft. I have color treated hair and sometimes it can be coarse feeling. This shampoo made my hair feel soft and that always makes me feel just a little bit better about my hair. As far as whether or not this encourages growth, I will have to update in a few weeks after using it more. After several more shampoos I should know whether or not this product will be placed in my beauty care routine products that I usually buy online.
