There is 5" of clearance between wall and front glass. If the outlet was anywhere lower, say centered behind the unit, you would need to go with a recessed outlet, as the back of the main metal body of the unit mounts flush to the wall. Here are comments broken down into categories:Delivery: Arrived fast and no transit issues. The bag of river rocks was a bit dusty, suggest using a thicker bag.Set Up: It was surprisingly easy to set up and hang. Was able to do it on my own in about 15-20 mins.Heating Function: I am very surprised how much heat this really put out. The thermostat functioned well to m maintain our desired room temp in a 400sf room.Flame Effect: There are many options for color flames and colors of back light to choose from. We went with the crystal option instead of the wood logset and really like how the base light glows through the crystals. There are many options for controlling the flame effect like speed as well as color. The lights are all LED and are bright.Noise: The built in fan, heater and flame effect are whisper quiet. I have had a Duraflame electric fireplace in the past and it was really loud in comparison.Remote Control: The included remote was easy enough to figure out without needing to read the instructions.Overall: I am very happy with the purchase. I posted a review video and Amazon didn't post it up. The first fireplace, the heater didn't work at all. The logs were broken in multiple pieces. The remote stopped working after 5 min of use. The tough buttons on the fireplace started flashing weird and then stopped working after 5 min of use. The flames have an awful loud clicking sound. Amazon sent me a replacement two days later. The second fireplace came with the logs split broken in the middle and its very obvious when the fireplace is turned on. The flames have a loud awful clicking noise. Even if I just wanted to sit in piece and quiet with the flames on, this noise would drive me crazy. It's very pleasing to the eye but functions horribly. Not close to worth the price of this costed $219. I'm going to have to send this one back too and its not easy trying to pack it back up, lift it and carry downstairs to outside to place into my car. It's a complete hassle. Can only be turned on and off (and other controls) with remote and now cannot find replacement remote.Update: changing from 2 stars to 4 stars as I have learned that the unit can be controlled via panel on the front of the unit. This is a very nice product and especially important to note is that the heat exhausts down and not upward (as most units seem to do). This is great if you want to install under a wall mounted TV.Would give 5 stars but disappointed that the remote stopped working as I only purchased last December and hardly used until now.
