I'm glad I did! This tool is durable but not heavy. Even with tough Texas clay soil, after watering a day before, it easily collected great samples. Removing samples from the tube with my finger was easy. It is shipped with a rubber tip at the end of the probe. After a few minutes of pushing and pulling I realized I just needed to twist it off and it came off easily. There are no threads, but it worked.I placed the probe on top of the area I wanted a sample from and used the handle to leverage twisting back and forth and it went in easily. As you can see by the soil sample, here in Florida we call sand - soil. The instructions suggest you should use your finger or a stick to release the soil from the probe. The inside of the probe, where it goes into the ground, is a little rough.
