Before this, I had been using CFL bulbs and tubes. I also use a light meter to help figure out how much light is being given to the plants. The meter ranges on a scale of 0-10. For all of these CFL bulbs, it seems your plant has to almost be nearly touching the bulb just to get a light rating of 1 and up. Not really good if you've got plants far away from your light source.That being said, we keep a lot of low light plants in our bathroom and have been using a large CFL for supplemental light. However, it didn't seem like it was cutting it anymore and I wanted to see if anything brighter existed. Before this I bought another CFL "grow light" and LED as a replacement - both labeled as 150W and 5000K. In reality, they were more like 100W or less and actually weaker than the original CFL I wanted to replace.I came across these and decided to give them a try. Plugged in the first one and it's pretty much a miniature sun that turned our bathroom at night into daytime. It's significantly brighter than the original CFL and the two replacements. I took a light reading to see how it compared and it is without a doubt more powerful in terms of luminary power. Here are my readings of the old lights vs. new LED:OLD LIGHTS (100W Led and CFL)Furthest plant (2' away): 0-.25 light ratingClosest plants (5" directly underneath): 1 light rating150W LEDFurthest plant (2' away): 1 light ratingClosest plants (5" directly underneath): 2 - 2.5 light ratingI also bought a 3-way light splitter just in case I wanted more power from the extra bulbs. I tried two bulbs and took another light reading and it was a 2 for the furthest plant and 3-4 for the closest. These bulbs are a 100% improvement over the previous grow lights and exactly what I was looking for. They have everything I was looking for and will no doubt help keep our plants happy where there isn't enough sunlight. I'm also going to buy the 3000K/warmer color version of this bulb for our living room and kitchen to replace our other CFL's.PROS:-Very bright and powerful-Nice daytime light that doesn't feel too sterile/medical-Is an ACTUAL 150W equivalent-Look and feel sturdyCONS:-They're a little bigger and heavier than the average LED ### ⭐⭐⭐ Lasted about 4 years. Not what they claimed, but okay I guess *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2022* I had two of these in a basement storage area that needed extra light. The brightness is great. One of them started flickering very badly recently. I looked up when I had purchased them and was surprised it was almost exactly 4 years ago. One is still working. It was a three pack, so I just screwed in the third bulb into the socket of the one that went bad. I will see how long the first one and the third one lasts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hot and heavy *by P***P on Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2017* I was immediately surprised at the heft of the bulb when I removed it from the box. I am guessing it’s the weight of the heatsink, but I don’t really know. I ran the bulb for 20 minutes in an open floor lamp (only a lampshade) to test before it goes to the garage. This thing (the base) gets very hot—untouchably hot, which surprised me. I am not expecting these “bulbs” to last very long, so I’ll update this review if they do or don’t. Unfortunately, reviews on LED bulbs aren’t very useful outside of first impressions; people review these things when they’re new and still functioning. Obviously one of the values of LED lights is the longevity, and that’s directly related to how well heat is dissipated.Update, Oct 2020: Bulb still running well. Considering what an absolute crapshoot LED bulbs are, this is saying something. (LED bulbs tend to proclaim years and years of life, but my experience is that they fail often, probably due to heat. And no matter the brand, you’re 99.9% getting something manufactured in China that won’t last.) I may have just gotten lucky with this bulb, but I’m happy it’s still going.
