I am using these with a large upright Boston. My impression is that isolating the piano from a wood floor may improve the sound of the instrument, although I did not make a direct comparison. These are large enough that positioning is relatively easy. However, they have a professional appearance. They are slightly glossier in reality than the pictures portray (somewhere between matte and glossy).
