I've tried using a generic plastic sprayer (the kind you get at the drug store), but that resulted in too fine a mist and got oil where I didn't want it. With this sprayer I had the same problem several other reviewers reported, where the oil comes out in a jet or stream and not a spray or mist. Almost returned this item, but was sent a follow-up email from the seller asking that I direct any concerns to them and they would reply. Still not totally sure I'm going to keep this one, but I'll give it an honest try. On the plus side, the cleaning brushes which come with it are well-constructed (e.g. the wire is twisted back over the end of the bristles, instead of just ending in an exposed cut wire which then scratches surfaces as I've had some brushes do). The tiny metal funnel is also adorable and does help when filling the sprayer. So I'm reluctant to give up those extras if I were to return the sprayer... ### ⭐⭐ like other vegetable sprays *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2017* After opening this, tossing the box, filling it with olive oil, and using it a couple of times, I have no idea why this product is getting 5 stars from other reviewers. It sprays out a jet of olive oil, which to me defeats the purpose of a sprayer. I might as well just pour olive oil into or onto whatever I'm making and spreading it around with a paper towel. I was hoping it would actually SPRAY, like other vegetable sprays, so that I could get a fine coating on whatever I'm making. Anyway, based on the seller's guarantee, we are returning this item even though we opened and used it. If that's the case, I certainly ended up with the knock-off.Another reviewer mentioned getting instructions from the manufacturer to only fill the bottle half-way to allow enough air for pressure. It's not that kind of sprayer. It's a simple pump action squirt, like with bathroom soap. It generally only fires in a stream. You can get it to mist, but it takes about 4 seconds per spray to set up and you have to depress it very hard or you still get a stream.It broke somewhat when a friend dropped it on my linoleum floor (so much for the metal case), and then when I tried to screw it shut after setting it right, the interior plastic case just snapped. Frankly, I was relieved, because that meant I wouldn't feel bad about not using it any more.
