The kids say the dinner is "warm" enough to enjoy but not hot. The top container is large enough to hold some raw veggies and fresh fruit. I wrap each separately in plastic wrap and place both in the top container. Overall, the stacked food jar is about the same size as a water bottle which conveniently slips over the handle of the food jar. Considering that hot school lunches for the kids cost $3.50 per person/ per day, the food jar pays for itself in six days.
