"PreforPro" looks to be a very interesting prebiotic. Apparently it is a bacteriophage that uses harmful E. Coli for food, turning it into food for beneficial microflora to feed on. I find this really, really fascinating! Kill multiple birds, so to speak, with one stone? There is even a brand new clinical trial starting up that I found googling "PreforPro" called "Effect of PreforPro® on Urinary and Vaginal Health" which hasn't even begun recruiting yet.This ingredient alone makes it worthwhile to consider this supplement.Then to this is added Tri butyrin (Tb). From what I've gathered, Tb provides a highly bioavailable source of butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid which is normally produced by the body by bacterial fermentation of undigested dietary fiber. A diet low in fiber is a gut low in butyrate. It is known to decrease inflammation in the gut - specifically the colon where butyrate resides, support the growth of villi, and mucin production, all vital to gut and microbiome health, such as boosting the immune system (which is in many ways controlled by the microbiome). It is also found in butter (which, added to coffee, many find to be a great keto drink - including me). It is often referred to as a “postbiotic”. Butyrate is the preferred energy source for the cells in the colon wall, and is essential for maintaining a healthy barrier between the colon and bloodstream and preventing inflammation in the gut. So one can see why some call butyrate the gut's super power,Another new thing to me is the Tb in this supplement. It is a patented form called NewBiome, which, according to the literature, has been formulated to do away with one of the chief complaints of butyrate supplements - the off-putting odor, by removing the cause of the odor, butyric acid.Gut and Microbiome health is one of the new frontiers of medicine, which, along with the science of NMN, is about to change EVERYTHING we know (and it looks like the fireworks are about hit the fan as the drug industry pits itself against the supplement industry over NMN and who has the right to control it.
