Multiple times a day the stove got turned on, and occasionally forgotten. We had a teakettle that got left on the stove and it was there so long the handle got charred. I bought a whistling teakettle which at least alerted us when it was ready, but we still had to turn on the stove multiple times a day, which just heated up the kitchen in the summer, and also wasted a lot of water heating more than she needed. Then we got this kettle. It heats in a couple minutes and shuts off automatically. It holds about 18 oz of water so just enough for a large cup of tea. The inside is stainless steel and easy to clean.
