The wood is solid of course. The top sides and back may be laminate but by no means is it some cheap "particle board".. Remember the cost is budget friendly and the materials are too. But Yamaha has a very nice sounding and playing guitar here for a very reasonable price. The overall length and height is that of a regular full sized guitar however it is only around 3-3.25 inches thick compared to a lot of others that range close to 5 inches thick.
