I think the design is great, I haven't had much experience with it yet, but the way the ring will move from the front of the anchor to the back should allow me to "un-stick" the anchor in many settings - I was prepared to drill out holes and setup a cheaper anchor to do this, but I love that this is already designed to allow lots of angles as you pull the cord to retrieve. I paired this with 6 foot of chain, which is also overkill for my boat I think, now that I've used it a few times. It's a bit more bulky than I'd like, to the point that even the weight alone keeps my boat in place (which for anyone new to this, that's not how this style of anchor should work, you can go lighter and let it dig into the lake/river bed). I'd probably do 4 or 6 feet of chain with the lighter anchor for such a small boat next time (meaning lighter than 18 pound anchor). Vinyl coating is great. Works great, will buy again if needed.
