Judging from the age of the chair, its charger is probably the "trickle" type which will over-charge the battery if the charger is left plugged in. Since I just replaced the batteries I wanted a charger that is a charger plus battery tender, a more-recent design which monitors the battery voltage and adds charge only when needed. This 24Volt charger has an XLR cable which connects to the jack under the hand control. It took quite a while to find information about the pinout of the charger's XLR plug, but it turned out to be correct for our power chair and leaving the built-in charger wiring in place (but not plugging it in at the wall) is OK. I can't speak for the long-term durability of the charger but it appears to function properly and well made.
