We bought it specifically for the large Kerrygold butter blocks. We use it as a tub and use the plastic cover. The wood plate / cover was immediately thrown into the back of the cabinet above the fridge. The lid is very snug and easy to remove. I really like that it's light and will not break if dropped like all the ceramic dishes out there.I was not paid for this review and i paid full price for this butter dish.
