Easy to reach outside the door and put on the roof, there's a ranger station not far and within site. It takes D batteries. I thought it may be good to have one in the truck and one at an off-grid home too. Got this package of two and realized it uses AA's, much better and easier than D's. Not to mention this does a few things more, good price and value for the money. I've only once in 35 years ever broke down on the pass, and well it's a very deep mountain pass and with blind curves, it will be good to keep in the truck in case that ever happens again though, I do not drive it daily anymore.
