Most roasters are not passionate about decaf coffee; perhaps, because they have not encountered good quality decaf green beans? This might stem from the fact that decaf coffee was traditionally produced by using chemical solvents and the result was weak, insipid or bitter coffee. As a result of this, decaf coffee was commoditised into a low quality coffee “product”. At the same time, the decaffeination process is expensive and so, to keep the prices down, low quality coffees (often old coffee from past crops) were used. The result: if you put bad coffee in, you’ll get bad coffee out. Fast forward a few decades and it’s all changed. The decaffeination process, such as the Swiss Water Process , gently removes the caffeine and leaves the coffee flavours in the bean - zero chemicals and certified 99.9% caffeine free ! Decaf’s moment has come - Decadent Decaf wants to reinvent decaf and spread the word of healthy decaf coffee!

Review: One of the better decafs out there - Wasn’t absolutely blown away but certainly filled a void and was pretty clean. It worked really well as a 50/50 mix with multiple caffeinated blends just to reduce my caffeine intake
Review: Very watery body and scant on flavour. - I'm a big fan of Ethiopian coffees and figured that the generally lighter body would work well with a decaf. Unfortunately, this coffee is a disappointment. The grind is a little coarse (I use a French press, but this felt too coarse even for that) and that may be part of the issue in terms of body & strength of flavour; it also had the non-staticky pour of ground coffee that's been sitting around for some time (ie months) which is, to be fair, expected when ordering from desertcart but probably contributed to the lack of any aromatics. The body is very, very light and watery; adjusting steep time didn't work, and I ended up having to use a ridiculous amount of the coffee to make anything drinkable, which isn't great--I'm not keen on buying a bag every three days. I wouldn't be able to recommend this at all unfortunately.

I'm a big fan of Ethiopian coffees and figured that the generally lighter body would work well with a decaf. Unfortunately, this coffee is a disappointment. The grind is a little coarse (I use a French press, but this felt too coarse even for that) and that may be part of the issue in terms of body & strength of flavour; it also had the non-staticky pour of ground coffee that's been sitting around for some time (ie months) which is, to be fair, expected when ordering from Amazon but probably contributed to the lack of any aromatics. The body is very, very light and watery; adjusting steep time didn't work, and I ended up having to use a ridiculous amount of the coffee to make anything drinkable, which isn't great--I'm not keen on buying a bag every three days. I wouldn't be able to recommend this at all unfortunately.
