If you're drawing all kinds of decorations and such that might be ruined by ink on the other side of the paper then you are absolutely missing the point of bullet journaling. I bought a thicker dotted notepad after finishing my first one of these and was sorely disappointed with it since it was heavy, hard to flick through and just no fun to use. Also the ribbons are very useful for keeping your place. I tried installing my own ribbons in another notebook but they don't really compare to ribbons that are made as part of the book and there are no other notebooks I know of with three ribbons. Overall I love this notebook and may have to buy a lifetime supply incase they stop producing them. She is absolutely thrilled with this book. She likes the layout, the page numbering, the "dots" on the page which, apparently, is particularly good for bullet journals. I love my Moleskine notepads so I purchased Leuchtturm 1917 with some hesitation but the quality of paper and features is comparable - and may even be better. Like the Moleskine, there is a useful, gusseted pouch on the inside back cover. I don't see the materials.** A: It actually doesn't eat anything (except for ink). I suppose that is vegan **Q: What are the differences between this one and the $19.95 version?** A: There is a noticeable difference between the non original and this one. This one is the official bullet journal that had pages made to help you start the bullet journal. As for the 19.95 version is a notebook that can be used for bullet journaling made by the same company that made the original **Q: What type of pen would be best used with this journal?** A: To be honest, the thinness of the paper is my biggest problem with Leuchterm journals - that, and that the pen elastic is an additional price. The paper is 80gsm, and I've found few pens that write so you can't see it easily on the other side. I'm not fussy - it's just a bit distracting, like writing in a mead paper notebook. If you're concerned, try one of 100 or 120 gsm notebooks, or else get yourself some fussier pens than I did (I got the suggested huhuhero ones). **Q: Does fountain pen ink bleed through the paper?** A: It might not bleed, but these particular LT models use paper that's only 80 gsm thick, so many pens will ghost (be visible on the back of the page). Amazon now sells the heavier 120 gsm thick models, which are better against ghosting and may be a better choice for your fountain pens. Amazon also sells other brands that use heavy 160 gsm paper for artistic mediums.
