We bought this as not knowing if our birds were both the same sex, and seeing them 'enjoying a bit of loving time together' thought we may need one, just to be on the safe side. A few months later we're pretty sure we don't have a boy and a girl, but all the same, this box has been well used by them both. We started with the lid open, as our birds are quite nervy types, but noticed they soon enjoyed pushing the lid down, and moving the box around. Nowadays they seem to sleep in the box, and use it as a place of safety when we have guests round that they don't know (quite comical watching them peek out of the hole suspiciously!) Also the perch doesn't fit, the hole is way too big for it. I overcame that problem by using one of my natural perches which fit a treat.
