Review: Brilliant piece of kit - Brilliant piece of kit, impressive sound output and quality for the size of the speakers. Because of internal amplifier, there is no necessity to fiddle around with additional cables and connections allowing a very quick set up with what ever devices are being used and then getting on with the simple pleasure of listening to the depth of sound that is produced. I can't imagine there is much that cannot be connected for audio input, but as everything I use from my mobile devices to 'Vinyl' works , then I'm not bothered to investigate further !
Review: Great sounding powerful little set of speakers - Having just returned to vinyl after over 20 years I recently purchased myself a Rega P1 Turntable and needed a set of speakers to go with them. Space is limited for me so I knew I didn't want to have to get a large set of speakers and an amp at this time so did a little research and came up with these. Reviews seemed positive, the price was within my budget and the fact that they had a built in pre-amp and were also Bluetooth were really what sold it for me. I have the speakers connected to the turntable by cable and the first time I played my vinyl through these I was literally blown away. It was likely because i've been listening to digital music for the past 15 years through a combination of cheap headphones, cheap bluetooth or laptop speakers and had forgot what music should really sound like. I also like the option and convenience of streaming digital music from iTunes or Apple music from my laptop or phone to these speakers via Bluetooth and even the sound there is vastly improved. But vinyl on a half decent turntable is always my preferred option. These desktop speakers are small, look lovely in Red and are powerful enough to fill any small room. I've had zero issues with them over the last 9 months or so and therefore can easily recommend them.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I tried adding a powered subwoofer to these speakers using the 'sub out' but no sound from the sub. Any ideas?**
A: Hi there,

In regards to this issue you would have to eliminate the fault from all sources in the chain.

I would say check your cable to make sure the cable is not a directional cable (if it is set it the correct way), make sure everything is turned on and the crossover on your subwoofer is not set to the minimum. If your sub still is producing no sound it could either be that the cable has a fault, the sub has a fault or the VA4 have a fault.

If you have the cable connected to the subwoofer I would suggest having the sub at a low level and just tap the end of the subwoofer lead to see if there is a hum. If there is not a hum the fault would be with the lead or the sub. If there is a hum then the fault would be with the VA4.

To see if it is the cable I would try a different lead and if you are still experiencing issues I would try using the lead with the RA4 RCA inputs  and try tapping the lead to see if you are getting a hum. If you are getting a hum then the cable will have no fault and this would leave the fault with the subwoofer.

Which Ever is at fault I would suggest contacting the dealer who you purchased the product off and get them to confirm the fault and get the product back for repair.

**Q: I can hear an electrical tapping noise in bluetooth mode, similar to electrical interference. Are mine faulty or is this common?**
A: Could be faulty or maybe it actually is picking up interference from something near by. Try moving it to another location, if it still occurs, send it back. Mine is very clear on all inputs I have tried  (BT, OPT & RCA)

**Q: Hi, can I connect a powered hifi to these speakers?**
A: These speakers are active so only require a "line level" signal source. The output of an amplifier is too high for the input to these speakers.  Look at the terminals on the back of your hi-fi which you want to connect to these and if it says something like "Speaker impedance 4-16 ohms" then these speakers cannot be used as they will be damaged.

### ⭐ Really Disappointed

Would love to leave a review saying these were amazing but I can’t Very excited as Audio-Technica turntable and speakers arrived today, looking forward to playing vinyl... Set up simple and straightforward however when plugged in the blue light next to the green power light continued to flash Remote control unresponsive Called Roth Tech Support and advised that there was nothing I could do and would need to return Agree with what everyone else has said re the remote Unfortunately this experience has put me off these speakers, first impressions etc so am returning and now looking for an alternative active speaker as I’m sat here with a new turntable and no way of listening to anything!
