Review: Fantastic, nifty little product. - Prior to this I had a combined Hario glass jug with V60 coffee dripper, which I accidentally smashed. Quite distraught at the idea of going back to my cafetiere (all those horrid grounds at the bottom of my cup, and less tasty coffee in the morning!) I decided to replace it, but then decided to buy this - essentially just the dripper element of my previous manual dripper - instead. The reasons for this were several: I had bought a nice coffee pot in a charity shop and thought I might be able to use this dripper with the pot (I can! It fits perfectly!); I always felt the glass jug lost heat very quickly; and finally, this seemed to be an easier way to make one cup over a mug rather than making a huge pot (my parter does not drink a lot of coffee). This product exceeded my expectations by looking beautiful and by fitting brilliantly on my coffee pot. If you usually have cafetiere coffee, I suggest giving a dripper a go - they are extremely easy to use (I am not a morning person, and have to get up very early for my job, and can easily manage to make a decent cup!), you get no gunky grounds in the bottom of your cup, and it is extremely easy to clean (just throw the filters in the bin and give the dripper a wash - no more scooping out gunky grounds or trying to wash them down the drain in the fear this choice might come back to haunt you in the form of a slimy blockage). I have never used a dripper other than the Hario brand - they are a little more pricey than others, but you can always give a cheap plastic version of the V60 a go first if you want to try it out. They are generally considered to make the best coffee, and I am pleased with the result every time - however, be aware that the filters are a little pricey and not easy to find in your local supermarket, so you will probably need to order them from desertcart or elsewhere. A different style of filter might be easier to find filters for, although in this 'internet age' there is really no cause to fuss. I can thoroughly recommend the manual filter dripper from Hario - it has changed my life (in a small but noticible way - at the end of the day, it is only coffee). However, be prepared to buy better quality coffee - the filter makes it easier to taste the coffee, so horrible coffee which is just about drinkable in a cafetiere will not cut the mustard with a filter!
Review: Arrived broken (twice). Poor desertcart packaging. - Nothing wrong with the item. It is great - the iconic V60 in ceramic! Very cool! The bad review would be for desertcart Packaging and if I could give them zero stars, then I would. The item was boxed by the manufacturer but desertcart shipped it out in a thin brown paper bag. It arrived smashed into about 12 irreparable shards. The Returns Procedure was great - except that the replacement also arrived in the desertcart thin brown paper bag and was once again smashed to smithereens. desertcart’s Customer Service refunded me the cost and said they’d review the packaging for this item. What a shame - what a waste. I do not dare re-order the same item in case it arrives broken once again. So I’ve gone for the safer (but not so cool) plastic version. Very disappointing :(((

## Features

- TRANSFORM YOUR COFFEE: This simple, beautifully engineered cone will allow you to make excellent coffee easily without the need for an expensive coffee machine. All you need is hot water, fresh coffee and a cup to stand it on
- THE V60 METHOD: The cone is at a 60° angle. A large hole provides the ultimate freedom, pour the water quickly for a light flavour or slowly if you like your coffee rich. V60 coffee is different – It’s filter coffee, but with precise control over brewing variables
- CERAMIC DRIPPER: The dripper is made using Arita-yaki, a traditional style of Japanese ceramics. This ceramic coffee dripper is made from porcelain, making it more heat-resistant, easy to handle and dishwasher safe
- ELEVATE YOUR CUPPA: Use the V60 dripper to make the perfect cup. Internal ridges keep the paper from sticking to the sides, preventing channels from forming. The spiral design assists in making water turn during the drawdown supporting even extraction
- FOR COFFEE LOVERS: This highly durable dripper is ideal for any coffee lover. This size 02 dripper makes 1 to 4 cups of coffee and comes with a measuring spoon and handy coffee brewing guide. Also available in red and other sizes

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this ceramic lead free?**
A: For 17 years I’ve imported all kinds of items from decorative to functional. Mostly to small businesses who resell to stores, you need not fear. To the guy who said guys like me import products with lead, come on man...
Guys like me are the ONLY ones you need not worry about. We did lead testing way before it was brought to a ridiculous level where people freaked. I have long story about a Chinese food company who’s executives were shot in the head over a busted machine that leaked a chemical in food and killed people. The European testing reqs are a joke. I know people who used to bypass the USA because it’s so easy. The Chinese live in fear of government regulations and laws.

**Q: You said that the size of the base is 3 3/4 inches, is that the very bottom (smaller part) of the base? Or the wider lip that rests on the rim?**
A: Very bottom (ring) is 2 and 1/2" o.d. (i.d. gives 2 and 1/8"); this is the part that sits in your cup. The base that rests on the cup is about 4 and 1/4".

**Q: Can you use filters from other manufacturers such as Melita?**
A: Ive used Melitta with this for about 10 years now. The Hack is, when you put paper filter in, you "scrunch" it down a bit at point of cone to provide a tad more paper there. That prevents paper cone from bursting open, an occasional event. (If it occurs, just re-filter in new filter) Ive tried to explain what I do, and have been doing for 10 years with this Hack. Oh, and I wash filter with hot water from electric kettle several times, as Melittas are loaded with toxic chemicals. I can smell them. I use glass Hario.

**Q: What's up with sending plastic instead of ceramic? If it's plastic, say so.**
A: Plastic is cheaper and holds the heat better than ceramic. If you pour hot water over ceramic or plastic, the ceramic will always cool down faster, consisting of a colder brew if you pour over time, which the V60 method takes 2 minutes of.

But yeah, they should state it's plastic clearer if you're getting it for health reasons instead of practicality.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makes the best coffee

The original. I use it everyday and wouldn't want anything else anymore. For best performance, I buy the adequate Hario filters. Easy to clean, very sturdy, pleasure to use, makes great japanese style coffee.
