Trying to stop sewer odor between down spout and 4" sch 40** A: You can use caulk to seal this. Use a thick wide bead and you should be able to "unstink" your fitting. Mark **Q: will this work for a 3 inch drain pipe** A: It could depending on how you configure the connection and how tight you want the fit to be. A 3" pipe would fit INSIDE the connector with lots of room to spare, so if you are "on a downhill run" it might be just fine. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in it lasting for years outside. It's fine in terms of fitment. It's a snug fit, especially on the gutter downspout, but it does fit my 3x4 downspout, and connects fine to a 4 inch drainage hose. The flexible section is a real plus to easily allow for alignment.
