It was a really good price compared to what I paid in the shops for my first one.The product arrived well within the time frame. No switch on lamp base. **Q: what bulbs does it use** A: R7 in the large lamp, G9 in the little one. Both are narrow, long glass bulbs. They come with the lamp however, and both are dimmable. **Q: How do I assemble it?** A: It really is quite easy to assemble. Find the instruction leaflet and check all the parts listed are there. If I were you I would put the small nuts/screws in a pot so you don't lose them. Carefully lay it out on the floor and the frame is ready to connect at about 3 to 4 points, with the electric cable already running through it. Follow the instructions to connect the tubular frame from the bottom upwards using the correct screws if required. As far as I can remember I think some of the tubular parts screw together. I am not accomplished at DIY but achieved the assembly quite easily by myself. Hope this helps. **Q: Found large lamp bulb very difficult to replace and now does not work, smaller lamp fine. I went for the "antique" model, hoping it would go with the other antique brass fittings in the room. Luckily, it is as close to antique brass as I can tell. The unit is very stable, with a heavy rubber foot holding it at the base. The design is very aesthetic, with everything screwing together at the edges; the only unnecessary seam I can see is on the controller unit (mounted half way up), which is in two pieces screwed together. The only two visible screws are on the back of the controller unit. There are separate controls for the level of the main light and dimmer light. Both lights have a frosted glass window on the reverse side to allow diffused light. The upright poles do seem to twist easily. The main light has a 220-240V 118mm halogen light (energy category C) which offers 230w (4650lm) for 1000 hours according to the box the bulb comes in. Even though the listing didn't mention it, the unit is self-assembly as you would expect at this price. It was delivered in a box with the main components assembled and cabled (controller unit fitted on and one of the bulbs installed). The mains cable, which you can't see in the listing picture, runs right through the cable and out of the base, and must be pulled through various tubing to close it up. Assembly requires the Alan key and spanner provided. Instructions are slightly tricky; the nuts and washers hold the unit together right at the base, under the rubber foot and metal cover while the picture shows only one layer; I thought they had assembled it wrongly and ended up taking off the plug, which broke and had to be replaced (luckily I had a spare plug; NB you need to transfer the fuse as it uses a non-standard 3A fuse). The instructions talked of a worm gear to hold the cable to the base, but there was no such tapped hole.
