Review: The industry standard. - Not the lightest gauge strings (I usually use Swing Bass sets) but these are solid and bright sounding and just about unbreakable. If you own a lot of basses, restringing them can be expensive, but Rotosound strings are worth the cost and the ones to go for. The industry standard. Consistently good. In almost 50 years of playing, I have only ever had one string with a weak core (years ago), which is testament to how good these strings are.
Review: Great strings. - Need quick and cheap bass strings. Didn't expect them to be that great quality. Love the coloured endings on style of UK flag. Nice sound and Great feel. Recommend to every one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good value string and a welcome change.
*by S***G on 10 December 2017*

I bought these a couple of months back as I was short on funds for my usual brand and I was attracted to the gauge size of the strings in the set. The majority of brands don't offer these sizings and I prefer a lighter, lower tension string. So these slender fellows fit the bill nicely! First impressions when I opened them were good. I could see the strings were made to a high standard, no gaps in the outer core winds and the ball ends were fused nicely to the string . Upon putting them on my bass I found them to be even tension across each string but a little too "loosey goosey" at first. They don't have the elastic/stretchy feel of Dunlop Super Brights Nickel (my usual first choice brand) but I'm embracing that as a welcome change. Once tuned up I tried them unplugged at first and straight away you can hear that classic Rotosound tone. The authorative, clear chime with plenty of sustain. But the nickel wrap softens things a bit in the high end, much like the sound of a worn-in set of stainless steels such as Swing Bass 66. Plugged in, the tone was similar but amplified. I noticed the strings went out of tune quickly at first which is something I'm not used to with Super Brights as they're pre-stretched before being packaged. This extra tuning adjustment I had to do for the first couple of days did add more tension to the strings which I was pleased about. I practise quite a lot at home, for a minimum of an hour of a weeknight and considerably more of a weekend. I'd say I noticed quite a distinct drop in the brightness after a couple of weeks (about 20 hours of play time) which I'm guessing is their played-in tone. I must add, it's still a brighter and clearer tone than a lot of other brands out there at this age of play. The low B string is pretty good too. I often find on other notable brands that offer five string sets they are let down by poor low B's. In the past I've been known to buy four string sets of one brand and buy a separate singular low B from another prefered brand. But this .125 gauge from Roto works quite well. It's not super-taut but tighter than I expected for the gauge and it's meaty with a fair bit of clarity. I wouldn't say it's as clear as Super Brights Nickel low B but it's tighter and has less clank about it. I've had them on now for six weeks and they haven't dropped much more in brightness since that two week broken in phase but I think I'll be ready for a change in a fortnight or so. Overall, I rate these strings. Even though they're billed as a budget set from Rotosound, I find them of good value and a welcome change from my usual, higher priced string. I've already purchased another set of these and will continue to alternate using them with Dunlop Super Brights now and again .
