Has worked perfectly since set up, and makes things that bit easier.
Bought this to go with my echo dot. It works perfectly, as long as you dont forget and turn the light switch off by mistake! I have a very old cottage, and there is only one switch in the lounge, so getting downstairs in the dark then across the room without stepping on a dog was not easy. Now I just tell alexa from the stairs and the lights turns on. My husband always forgets to turn off the hall light which reflects in the TV, so I have set this as a second zone so I dont need to get up again to turn it off. (Im disabled, so can be excused for laziness sometimes!)

Nicely made product
Nicely made product, and very neat aesthetic design. Easy to set up & install - the app walked you through step by step. The only two gripes - the battery was dead on arrival so had to order a new one, which delayed setup for a day and the buttons can only be assigned to preset functions - on/off, colour warmth up/down or brightness. I was hoping to be able to assign them to our scenes. However as we're only using it in a kid's bedroom to control a lamp they can't reach from top bunk, it does what we need it to - but I won't invest in additional buttons for other areas of the house as the functions are too limited.

Extremely poor product
Extremely poor product, wasted ages setting this up but won't work. Found out that it's not compatible with most android phones for the first setup. Borrowed iphone and managed to get it worked with it. But it will not update the gateway firmware from an iPhone. Now connected with Nexus 6p again and it connects. Somehow iphone did manage to update the firmware but app will just show failed. Terrible user expereince. Now I spend another 30 mins in order to connect the hub with my light bulbs.. but it won't update the bulbs firmware.. Keep showing upgrading... but will drop half way through. In a nutshell, this is one terrible product. If you have spare days to waste, be my guest and buy this gateway.. Or else spend little extra and buy Philips Hue or any other product and live happily ever after!

Better than Hue Dimmer Switch because looks closer to standard double switches. Design needs improvement.
'Osram Tify ESC 2016 Edition Sensation Kit Gateway with, Plastic, Fernbedienung, 64 x 64 x 18 mmBetter than Hue Dimmer Switch because looks closer to standard double switches. The Good-Looks almost like a standard switch.-Works with the hub switched off.-Each button can be programmed individually for long press and short press so everyone can use it to control whatever they need, are not forced to have useless dimming buttons like with Hue.The Bad-Smaller than standard UK size. Make it a standard size and make it compatible with a cheap manufacturer's paddles and face plates so that I can fit whatever design I want.-Can't be fitted in place of existing switches, i.e. in a recessed box.-Magnet is very weak, switch simply fells off the wall plate sometimes.-Programming is confusing, but this is more an issue with app.The Ugly-This is a question of taste but looks ugly. The paddles are made of cheap plastic, the colour doesn't really go with anything, plain white would have been a much better choice.-The Lightify logo in middle and the ornaments in corners doesn't fit our rooms either, so for us is only suitable in porch or hallway.

Very easy to set up and use
Very easy to set up and use. Very useful and flexible with 4 buttons plus short and long press operation. Fully programmable to different devices and functions.

Required for setting parameters and updating bulbs for connecting with Hue and Smartthings. Not required for connection.
I use the Osram bulbs paired to a hue hub with Smartthings as the extended control. This hub was only necessary to update the bulbs and to set certain parameters which are only available with Osram Lightly bulbs. First of all, you will have problems completely shutting off the bulbs using Hue if you do not update the bulbs using this gateway. The dimming speed and even the color when first turned on (for color or white tunable bulbs only) can be changed for Osram Lightly bulbs connected to this gateway using the Lightify app. These are settings there are sadly missing from Philips hue bulbs. You will need to play around with the dimming speed in order to match that of the Philips hue bulbs. After updating the bulbs, I now have them directly connected to Hue with no problems at all. The only thing that doesn't work is the Hue dimmers when set to "turn on to last setting". The lightify bulbs will turn on no matter what the last setting was.
