What truly sets the Duronic solar radio apart is its versatility in charging options. Whether you're on a camping trip, travelling abroad, or simply enjoying the outdoors, this portable radio has you covered. With the Duronic wind up solar radio, stay connected and entertained. This Apex solar power radio integrates five functions seamlessly into a single device. It boasts a high-quality radio accompanied by two speakers, enhancing your listening experience. Additionally, it showcases a back-lit digital display, allowing easy identification of tuned stations. Furthermore, it incorporates a clock feature for non-radio use, complete with an alarm to awaken you with your preferred radio station. Moreover, serving as a flashlight, it hosts three LED lights for optimal brightness. The Apex wind up radio also offers the convenience of emergency mobile phone charging via the provided USB cable. How efficient are solar panels on solar radios in various weather conditions? Solar panels on solar radios are generally efficient in direct sunlight conditions but their efficiency can decrease in cloudy, rainy, or foggy weather. However, with the Apex solar radio, even if the sunlight reduces, the wind up radio can still be charged using the wind up handle or by connecting the solar radio to the USB. What are the environmental benefits of using a solar radio compared to traditional electric or battery operated radios? Using a solar radio has several environmental benefits compared to traditional electric or battery operated radios, including reduced dependency on electricity generated from fossil fuels, lowered consumption of disposable batteries which contain harmful chemicals and contribute to toxic waste and increased sustainability overall. How do the audio quality and volume capabilities of solar radios compare to their non-solar counterparts? Solar power radios typically match their non-solar counterparts in terms of audio quality and volume capabilities. Advances in technology have allowed for high-quality sound components to be included in sustainable designs. Are solar radios designed to be easily portable for outdoor activities or emergency preparedness kits? Solar radios are often designed with portability and outdoor use in mind. They tend to be compact, lightweight, and include features like built-in solar panels that make them ideal for outdoor activities or emergency preparedness kits. Solar radios offer a sustainable alternative to traditional radios with many models designed to perform well under various conditions. While their performance can be affected by weather and sunlight exposure, advancements in solar technology and battery efficiency continue to improve their reliability and utility. Three Way Charging For Increased Versatility Wind-up using handle Experience unparalleled convenience with the wind-up handle charging feature of our dynamo radio. Just one minute of cranking provides a 20 minutes of playtime, ensuring continuous entertainment without the need for external power sources. Ideal for emergencies, this reliable charging method ensures you'll never be without music or information when you need it most. Through solar panel by leaving in the sun Utilise the sun’s energy with our outdoor radio's solar panel charging function. Although it may take a bit longer, the solar panel continuously charges under sunlight. An indicator light signals ongoing charging, and you can charge the dynamo radio while using it, ideal for prolonged outdoor activities or emergencies. Connect to USB Charge your dynamo radio conveniently via USB, offering versatility and ease. Connect to your phone or PC for effortless charging. A full charge provides an impressive 7 hours of uninterrupted playtime, ensuring continuous entertainment wherever you go. In areas with weak reception, extend the aerial for improved signal quality. For personal listening, there’s a headphone socket featuring a standard 3.5mm size compatible with most headphones, perfect for a personalised listening experience. Using the buttons located on the radio's top, you can select various modes to display a digital clock, alarm time, or the radio frequency.

Review: Great feature set for great price, Duronic Radio - I have ordered 2 of these radios for walking and as an addition to home "emergency" kit (ie. power blackout etc.). It is a small and light radio, its sound is imo very good for its size though a little tinny, the handle arm on both sets has a good positive action and provides a noticeable improvement in charge time / radio use compared to a previous radio (though I have not measured this), the telescopic antenna is recessed on the back and seems sturdy compared to a previous radio. The included battery is in a small compartment underneath, some NiMh battery which could of been slightly larger size (it is very small) though this is being picky. The flashlight is 3 LED type with a flood type diffusion, and is bright enough to light a room or provide very short distance illumination outside. I have not used the solar panel ontop but the LED indicates charging when in sunlight and I think it is a great addition. The volume and frequency knobs are recessed and well protected, and the whole design appears very durable for knocks and blows, though I doubt it is waterproof it appears very well constructed. It came with a few accessories which I used to charge up to full from a 5V USB port, it also comes with a female usb adaptor which I used for a short test to charge my HTC Desire smartphone, winding the handle indicated charging on the phones screen, I do not know how long it would take to fully charge a phone in this manner but it is a great addition. I compared this model to many other models of more expensive wind up radios online and out of many compared I think this one has the best price / feature set out of basically all others, plus its construction is v good, I am very happy with it and decided to leave this review! (Duronic Apex Digital Display Wind-Up Solar Powered AM/FM Radio Alarm Clock Torch)(I think there is another one from Duronic with similar name and look but without what I felt was the best feature set)
Review: Excellent little thing :-) - So, the delivery man arrived & I got this out of the packet. I pulled it out of the box, didn't look at the instructions & wound it up (not very energetically, but the little red light went on so it counted) for ooooh, must be all of 1 minute then I tried to turn the radio on. It didn't work!! Another minute winding, no result. That's when I noticed there is a little switch on the underside you have to turn on. As long as that is off, nothing will work (including the clock) It doesn't seem to keep the time if that switch is turned off, but it may be that it would have with more charging. I'll have to see at some point in the future. So, now I'd set the on switch, the clock turned on, the radio worked & the torch worked too. The sound quality isn't as good as on my more expensive radios, but it's fine. The volume goes up far too loud for me to listen to if I'm sat near it. The dial on the left hand turns the radio on & then the volume up (or down & off if you turn it the other way) The dial on the right hand tunes the radio in. When the radio is on, you can't see the time, just the radio station. It's easy to set the time, you just hold the time button then press the hour & minute ones to get to the right time. Alarm the same, which means that long after I've lost the instructions I'll be able to reset it with no problems. The alarm turns the radio on when it goes off At night the torch is bright enough to read a book by if you had to, so if the power went you could use it to get down the stairs & see what's going on with no problem. On day 1 I probably spent a total of 10 minutes winding it, mostly for the novelty value. The winder doesn't care if you wind it clockwise or anticlockwise so this would be just as easy to use for a left handed or right handed person. When not in use, it tucks away in a recess shaped for it in the back. My toddler is currently obsessed with turning every electrical item in the house on, so this radio ran for at least 5 hours on day one, with the torch on intermittently - it may have been charging from the sunlight though as he kept putting it on the windowsill. Setting the 12hr clock & the alarm is simple, you just hold the time set (or alarm set) button then use the hour & minute buttons to get the time right. If you go past the hour you want, you'll have to cycle back through the whole day as it doesn't go backwards. The radio goes on when the alarm goes off at about half the maximum volume. You don't need the instructions to work it out, unlike some other clocks I've had. It's been on for hours already today, but I haven't wound it up yet, so it must be running off sunlight. So far, I'm delighted with this, enough that if it's still performing this well after the summer, I expect I'll be gifting these as Christmas presents - they are handy for home, taking to the beach or in the garden but I think every car owner should have something like this in their car too. The only things I don't like about this (but I can live with them) are that the clock is not backlit & if you press the little light button it only stays lit up for 10 seconds, so you wouldn't be able to find it easily in the dark (but perhaps there is a way to have it stay backlit, I'll have to read the whole manual -it's only a page long- & see) & I find it hard to hold it comfortably to wind the charging handle without pressing all the buttons on the top, turning the torch on & off while doing so. I also wish it displayed the time while the radio was on. I haven't tried charging a mobile with it yet, but it came with 2 cables so I'll give that a go some time soon. I plan to update this review in 3 months to see how it's performed after the summer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little work-a-day radio
*by F***T on 12 June 2012*

I wanted a little radio for when I'm pottering about the greenhouse / garden and this fits the bill perfectly. It's very sturdy with a rubberised finish that has so far withstood various knocks / drizzle / crumbs of compost. I've had the radio for about 6 months now and have used it regularly outside for about 3 months. Plus points: - stays charged from the sun most of the time if left in a sunny spot (the greenhouse in my case) - red indicator light tells you if the radio is charging - when the charge runs low (after some hours of use), a 1-minute wind-up keeps it going for another half-hour or so - good reception for both FM and AM - capacity for nice loud volume if needed - torch is surprisingly powerful (but a narrow beam) Minus points: - sound quality is not great but you wouldn't buy this radio for the sound quality - a bit fiddly to tune it using the rotary switch and I also find the tuning drifts slightly after a while - volume seems to vary spontaneously at times - top buttons are a bit small and fiddly - instructions are not overly useful I charged it up using the USB connection when I first got it but it hasn't been necessary since then. I've used it many times when I've been out in the garden the entire day and it's kept going all day if sunny, with a few windings to keep it going later in the day. I mostly listen to sport on it so the tinny tones don't trouble me. I've now started using it indoors doing some decorating because it's so handy to perch on a window-sill. I've never used the alarm so can't comment on that but I've been absolutely delighted with this radio so far. I can see it being handy for days out / camping as well. I've actually grown so fond of it that I've even given it a name!
