The device itself couldn't be more simpler to use, one button is for the ear, and the other is for the forehead measurement. To measure the temperature from the ear, just simply take the blue cap off and press the button. but if you want to measure from forehead leave the cap on and put the thermometer on forehead and press the button. I've used this myself and for my little girl and i am safe to say that i am not disappointed and it is very reliable.
