It depends on your mb. I am using this fan on a lga 1150 motherboard and i use an app called speedfan to control speed. I use this fan in a small form factor case. Hence the slim fan. The original fan was 25mm thick so the search was on for a slimmer one. This fan is 15mm thick and is suitable for low profile applications so was perfect. Pros - slimmer than most fans available, whisper quiet, and extremely high quality parts. Comes with extra cables and adaptors and very well packaged. Cons - that color... Not for me but since its an exhaust fan and my case has no windows it didn't matter. Also, the price was a little high for a non rgb fan.
