If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me Sincerely EcomHaven ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Near-perfect solution for adding Apple CarPlay to pre-2016 cars without it! *by H***2 on Reviewed in the United States on 4 June 2023* I purchased the Carpuride W103 unit after much research as a solution to provide CarPlay capability in my 2014 E-class Mercedes that was lacking CarPlay. I selected this for many reasons:- I liked the wide-aspect ratio of the screen to be similar to newer wide aspect OEM displays.- I preferred not changing the original OEM configuration of the car - something required by CarPlay solutions that go through the OEM COMMAND unit.- I preferred having both the OEM COMMAND display and navigation in addition to the CarPlay display above it on the dash.I received the unit, and had additionally purchased a new 6' Anker USB-A to lightning cable (Apple certified) as well as an Alex Tech sleeve to bundle the three cables from the unit (USB-C lighter charger, AUX cable for audio, and USB-A to lighting for iPhone connection). I wanted a wired connection for sound quality and iPhone charging as opposed to just Bluetooth for wireless audio and CarPlay and still have to connect the phone for charging. (My 2014 does not have a wireless Qi charger and I have not added one).I chose to use the suction cup arm for installation attached low on the windshield to hold the unit in place as it rests on the top of the dash just above the OEM COMMAND display. The low profile of the 10.3" unit provides minimal impact to visibility. The most difficult part of the installation was ensuring the 4 prong "pivot" connector from the arm to the unit had "clicked" into place firmly as it was difficult to know if it was supposed to do that or not. I did not want to damage the prongs or the unit. I ended up taking the small pivot piece off the arm and connected it to the unit FIRST - and it securely "clicked" into place. I then replace the "ball pivot" point back into the arm, tightened everything up, and it worked perfectly and securely. It is very stable on the dash with a minimal amount of side-to-side play at the suction cup. The suction cup seems to be adhering very tightly and securely thus far (4 days in).Carpuride support has been EXCELLENT - answering questions rapidly overnight from China and also providing a file and easy method to replace the Carpuride boot screen with a Mercedes logo bitmap at boot time. I was able to do this from a MacOS laptop copying the provided isp_part.bin file ONLY to a cleanly MS-DOS FAT32 formatted 32GB high speed USB flash drive. Simply unplug the lighter power charger from the lighter, insert the flash drive into the USB-A port on the unit with the provided file, re-insert the lighter charger to boot/power cycle the unit, and, voila, the provided logo bitmap appears on every boot thereafter.- As to the CarPlay capability of the unit, so far it has behaved perfectly and utilizes the full width and height of the 10.3" display screen (despite other reviews indicating it may not). The touch screen is very fast and responsive - almost too responsive. The sound quality through the AUX cable via the Mercedes Media Interface is excellent - equal to the Media Interface iPhone connector. The iPhone charges well through the USB-A cable and CarPlay launches within seconds. Also, unlike some OEM solutions, I am able to use the CarPlay navigation (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc.) and Mercedes COMMAND navigation simultaneously if desired - something I cannot do in our 2019 Audi on the MMI with OEM CarPlay.While the 1/4" cable bundle created with the Alex Tech sleeve coming from the unit to the center console isn't ideal, it is a tradeoff I was willing to make versus opening the dash and console to modify the OEM configuration. I'm sure a pro shop could do a better job hiding the cables and I may invest in having that done at some point - but for now I'm thrilled with having a wide-aspect CarPlay display and capability in my 2014 E-class that I never wanted to sell. I'll drive it another 100,000+ miles now that it has up-to-date technology. Nice job Carpuride! Works amazing. The flat shape helps me see over it while it sits on the dash. The resolution is amazing. The wireless CarPlay works amazing.
