It is a perfect size to get under the whole egg and reduce the risk of broken yolks. Also perfect for omelettes. You can fold the omelette in half without it breaking like it does when using smaller lifters. Our old lifter was a nylon version. After a few uses the nylon would start to melt and bits would come off while cooking. This silicone lifter does not melt in a conventional frying pan cooking bacon on a medium to high heat. The metal handle means I can rest it on the edge of the frying pan after cooking without worrying that it might melt. I would definitely recommend this lifter. It's ok in larger pans but it would also not be great for a Wok. As with all OXO items it's well made and dishwasher safe.
