As far as "support", it should easily be strong enough to hold about 792 of those cameras, rough estimate of course : ) **Q: Is the tilt locked by twisting the handle, or by the knob on the side?** A: The tilt (point up, point down) is loosened and locked by the handle. The knob on the side loosens and tightens the side-to-side panning. Also be aware that the head assembly screws down onto the elevator shaft, so it needs to be well tightened prior to any panning movement. The pan motion on mine is slightly rough and seems to need some use to smooth out. But it's acceptable. There's another knob on the head, to loosen or lock the camera base side-tilt from horizontal to vertical and in between. A final knob down where the legs join the elevator base locks the riser shaft from going up & down. If slightly loose it lets the shaft and camera head turn for panning, also. Hope this helps. **Q: Can i enter the center column backwards from the bottom?** A: No. I wish I could ... I could get lower shots. Probably why you are asking! It is quite sturdy when in use even fully extended. I shot a bit of footage on my DSLR and it's quite professional looking. It has been mentioned that the head unscrews from the centre stem when panning so I experimented with locking knob settings and found that if the head is screwed onto the stem as tight as possible and the pan lock knob is loosened, reasonably smooth panning can be achieved. I eventually found the monopod which is the centre stem, withdrawn and extended...make sure you twist to lock each section as required. I like the little carrying handle on the tripod and the included case for easy transportation.
