The tapes that are black sound better.** A: I have always black tape smells better but brown tape tastes better. **Q: Are these sized to play in a hifi/car radio? I bought some once and they were small.** A: Maxell UR are full sized cassette tapes for hifi and car radios. "Mini cassettes" and "micro cassettes" are a different product designed for dictation machines. These are indeed OK for full sized hi-fi and car players. We used them in the car until 2014 when we got a new model, these are very reliable. **Q: can you record on both sides of this tape?** A: Yes, no problem, record 45 minutes per side, total recording time 90 minutes. **Q: When recording on both sides, does it do it automatically or do you have to take the cassette out and then turn it over?** A: It depends what type of Recorder you are using. Recommended. *by W***L on 22 July 2016* Tried them on my Yamaha KX-393 that I picked up from a charity shop for £25 connected to an iPhone 6S via the Amp to record streaming music over WiFi on Cable Broadband. Thus proving the Yamaha KX-393 was an absolute bargain being the condition it was in. And the tapes themselves are great as well. All varieties of Dolby Worked Well. Very Surprised at the reproduction of tape after all these years. But then, I never did play them on rubbish devices, which is what gave them a bad name. Enjoyed making a "mix" tape from streaming media.
